Objective: To evaluate the usual risk classification markers of the current obstetric care protocol of the SES/DF, at the Hospital da Região Leste (HRL). Method: Descriptive exploratory study with a quantitative approach, and with a search for retrospective data. It will take place at the Obstetric Center of the Hospital Regional Leste (Paranoá), located in the Federal District, with the purpose of analyzing the applicability of the usual risk markers of the current SES/DF protocol. The object of investigation will be puerperal women assisted in childbirth and birth by obstetric nursing. The research will be carried out following the following steps after approval by the CEP: data collection will take place through a semi-structured instrument built on the basis of data clarified by the local record book and data from the patient's chart, determining the markers of usual risk, high risk and delivery and birth care data, focusing on urgencies and emergencies. Results: It is concluded that obstetric nursing has been acting in situations that go beyond the established protocol; such a document, which a priori aims at assisting deliveries to patients with low-risk markers, has become obsolete, as the nursing service expands beyond the usual risk.
