Nursing care in the postoperative period of appendectomy: an integrative review

Objective: this study aims to analyze, based on the available scientific evidence, the most relevant nursing care practices in the postoperative period of appendectomy. Methodology: a qualitative approach was used through an integrative review. Articles published in the BVS database were included. The selected articles are those published in Portuguese and English from 2019 to 2024. Results: the research reveals a gap in studies focused on the nursing role in postoperative care following appendectomy, despite the extensive literature available on surgical contexts in general. However, the monitoring of vital signs and the surgical wound are the most frequently cited aspects in the studies found.
