Use of andragogy by preceptors in teaching multiprofessional health residents: a bibliographic review

Abstract

Objective: the objective of this research focuses on the search to identify whether the principles of andragogy are used by preceptors in teaching multidisciplinary health residents. Method: this is a bibliographic review, where the descriptor “andragogy in health teaching” was used, searches were made in the BVS (Virtual Health Library). Regarding the time of the work, no time frame was used, considering that the subject of “andragogy” is considered innovative in the health field and a time limit could reduce the number of studies, thus reducing the data. Ten texts were obtained, of which 2 are clinical practice guides; 1 qualitative research, 1 risk factor; 1 diagnostic study and 1 systematic review. Regarding the languages of the texts, 6 are written in Portuguese; 1 in Spanish and 3 in English. Studies that did not contain an abstract were excluded. After these evaluations, 6 publications remained and were distributed in Table 1. Conclusion: knowledge of the principles of Andragogy, by those responsible for teaching in patient education, professional training and continuing education, seems to be a very useful tool for achieving better learning results.
