Henoch-Schönlein purpura – A case report in Primary Care

Abstract

Objective: to report a case of this disease, initially diagnosed and managed in Primary Care, in a 4-year-old child who presented with edema and purpuric rash in the lower limbs, associated with intense abdominal pain and preceded by acute bacterial tonsillitis. Method: this is a case report. Results: The diagnosis of Henoch-Schönlein Purpura was established based on the clinical criteria set by the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) and the initial treatment was instituted at the Basic Health Unit. Conclusion: The diagnosis and initial management of Henoch-Schönlein Purpura can be carried out in Primary Care, given its resolutive capability.
