Heart failure in a young patient in the Regional Hospital of Sobradinho (HRS – DF): case report

Abstract

Heart failure (HF) is a clinical condition of variable etiologies, potentially serious, which affects more elderly patients, requiring non-pharmacological and
pharmacological treatment as soon as diagnosed and medical follow-up to change therapeutic strategy as the disease progresses. Objective: to report a case of
difficult-to-diagnose HF in the context of the covid-19 pandemic in a young patient at the Hospital Regional de Sobradinho, with risk factors – obesity and poorly controlled arterial hypertension – and who during hospitalization developed an acute heart attack myocardium with ST elevation. Method: this is a case report. Results: despite the typical chest pain and diagnosis of ST elevation AMI, the patient, after receiving medication, improved clinically and remained asymptomatic. In general, young and hypertensive patients with this diagnosis have an unfavorable outcome (50% mortality). Conclusion: as the patient presents structural and functional changes in the heart, it is essential to monitor the
clinical evolution to determine the appropriate treatment at each stage of the disease, aiming to reduce mortality and devastating consequences for the patient.
