PortuguêsAbstract
This paper stems from the experience of an educational intervention project started in 1996, the so-called Women’s Care Club, developed at a primary healthcare center affiliated to the Regional Hospital of Ceilândia (HRT) at Brazil’s Federal District. It presents an alternative proposal of healthcare, which comprises climacteric women’s health and life quality altogether. It seeks to ponder and discuss health actions directed to climacteric women in a primary healthcare context. It also aims at finding effective care strategies, which shall encompass biological, psychosocial and cultural factors whilst anchored in an extended health concept reflecting a more humanized level of assistance in primary healthcare centers to women facing the climacteric. In addition, this article intends to share concepts that could offer some guidance to on-going similar endeavors and also the hope that even restricted and punctual initiatives may represent a fruitful effort towards the implementation of undertakings focused on integral health care provision to climacteric women in primary healthcare centers.
