The Expanded Center for Family Health and Primary Care (Nasf-Ab) is a typology of a multidisciplinary team of Primary Health Care (PHC) that was implemented with the objective of broadening the performance of the Family Health strategy, providing a specialized rearguard and to increase the resoluteness of care. This study aims to assess and understand the weaknesses, challenges and threats of these teams in Brazil through published literature. This is an integrative review with consultations in the Scielo, BVS, CAPES and LILACS journals. As an analysis, the content analysis method was used. The findings were categorized into 5 themes considering the frequency in which they appeared in the findings. It is concluded that most of the challenges that permeate the Nasf-Ab are linked to a tension between care models, especially the hegemonic, doctor-centered and the family health model, centered on the territory, community.
