Abstract

Introduction: The role of nurses in the post-anesthetic recovery room and caring for anesthetized patients, where they are responsible for observing and treating the patient in the postoperative period and ensuring that he or she safely wakes up from anesthesia. Thus, the objective was to describe the profile of nurses in the care provided in the Post Anesthetic Recovery Room, according to publications from the last five years. Method: integrative review with a search carried out in the PubMed, Lilacs and Scielo databases, which resulted in a total of 12 publications. Results: The results of the study demonstrated that the most prevalent complications reported were pain, nausea, hypothermia, urinary retention, hypertension, tachycardia and bradycardia. Conclusion: the nursing team in the post-anesthetic recovery room is very important, as it is through them that the necessary assessments are carried out to ensure that complications are avoided in the post-anesthetic recovery room.
