Knowledge Management in Care by the Perioperative Nurse: Systematic Review

Introduction:Knowledge management contributestothe empowerment ofthepracticeofperioperative nurses, and helps tocharacterizethestrategic role of nurses in healthcare. Objective:To examine theavailablescientificevidenceregardingknowledge management bytheperioperative nurse andanalyzetheoutcomesofthesestudies. Method: Systematic review conductedaccordingtothePreferredReportingItemsmethodology for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA Statement), search in the Medical LiteratureandRetrieval System Online databases via PUBMED, Latin American andCaribbeanLiterature in Health Sciences via Library Regional de Medicina, Cochrane Library andScielofromSeptember 2 to 25, 2018. Results:From a total of 1419 articles, 12 studieswereconsidered in thissystematic review. The studiesincluded in general didnotoffercomprehensivetreatmentsonperioperative nurses andtheirstrategic position in knowledge management, sotheywereanalyzedfromother perspectives. Conclusion:Perioperative nurses have a strategic position in knowledge management, withdifferences in thequalityofpatientcarewhencomparedto general healthcare.
