Abstract

Objective: to carry out multidisciplinary educational training on care for cases of postpartum hemorrhage, evaluating the consolidation of this knowledge in the short and medium term for resident physicians and nurse-midwives at a reference maternity hospital for low and high risk. Method: the educational training was face-to-face, including an expository
class about postpartum hemorrhage and presentation of educational videos developed by the researcher and debriefing afterwards. The questionnaire was applied before and immediately after the intervention, via Google Forms®. Two months later, the same questionnaire was reapplied to assess the consolidation of knowledge in the medium-term. The responses were classified into three groups. The first corresponded to responses obtained before the educational intervention, the second to responses immediately after the training and the third to responses obtained two months later. Results: an increase in the correct answer rate for residents and midwives was obtained when all answers were evaluated with a level of significance at a p-value < 0.05. When the groups/stages were paired, it was identified that the statistical difference occurred in the immediate assessment, after the educational intervention. In the medium term, there was no difference in the success rate obtained between stages 2 and 3, suggesting no loss of cognitive increment even after two months of training. Conclusion: the educational model used helped in the dissemination and consolidation of knowledge,
contributing to multidisciplinary activity, and may be an auxiliary instrument to minimize cases of death from postpartum hemorrhage.
