Language development is a complex and multifactorial process that has its critical phase in the preschool period, when adults act as mediators for communication. Therefore, knowledge about typical language development and signs of possible alterations during this period is essential, as well as ways to stimulate communication skills. This study aims to report the experience of a resident speech therapist regarding the development and implementation of a strategy to promote child language development in the context of primary health care. The work was carried out through problematization using the Maguerez Arc method, following the steps: observation of reality, survey of key points, theorization, solution hypothesis and application of the action in reality. As a product, a folder was created containing information on typical language development, signs of alteration and guidance on child language stimulation, with a focus on parents/guardians and professionals at the Basic Health Unit in which the intervention was conducted. In this situation, the use of the Maguerez’s Arc method proved to be successful in alleviating the problems observed in reality.
